Premier Division - Cheadle Town

Winning the Premier Division award for October 2025 is Cheadle Town. This is their first monthly award since March 2024 and only their second since being promoted to the Premier Division at the end of the 2022/23 season.

Despite being in 16th place in the league table at the time of writing, October was a superb month for Cheadle They played all six games they played on the road, with three of them coming in cup competitions. They picked up seven points in the three league games they played, and also progressed through to the next round of the Isuzu FA Vase, Macron Cup and Cheshire Senior Cup.

The first game in October was a 2-1 win at Pilkington, where they fell behind to an early goal from Tom Douglas. That remained the score at the break but second half goals from Edson Cata and Sheriff Njie turned things around to give Cheadle all three points. Next came superb a 3-1 win at Wythenshawe, with Edson Cata once again grabbing the first goal for Cheadle on 13 minutes. Towards the end of the first half, a quick fire double from a Liam Delaney penalty and Sheriff Njie put them firmly in control. The home side pulled one back through Bryan Ly with 15 minutes to play but Cheadle saw out the game to take home the points.

Cheadle then travelled to First Division North side Maine Road in the Second Round of the Macron Cup. Again they netted in first half stoppage time through Nicholas Hepple, with Saul Henderson doubling the lead seven minutes into the second half. James Horan's goal with 15 minutes to go made it a tense ending but Cheadle progressed through. Another cup game was next, this time heading to Midland League side 1874 Northwich in the Cheshire Senior Cup. Sheriff Njie was again on target, his brace in the first half giving them a comfortable lead at the break. Nicholas Hepple added another with a minute remaining to secure a 3-0 win.

A third successive cup game saw Cheadle travel to Northern League side West Allotment Celtic in the First Round of the Izuzu FA Vase. It was Oliver Ford who scored the opener this time on 34 minutes, with Sheriff Njie once again scoring in the second half, his goal with 15 minutes remaining doubling the lead. West pulled a goal back with five minutes to go but Cheadle held on to win.

The final game saw Cheadle return to league action and it was a first ever trip to Euxton Villa. They fell behind to Jordan Bentham's 13th minute goal, but Sheriff Njie's eighth goal in seven games midway through the second half gave Cheadle a point.

That gave them a 21 points from their 6 games for a 3.50 average.

Ramsbottom United can count themselves unlucky not to win this award after winning every game. Six of their seven wins came at home with the points calculation rewarding away wins slightly better meaning Cheadle's average was higher. West Didsbury & Chorlton also had a good month with seven wins from eight games, five of their victories coming at home.

First Division North - Nelson

Club of the Month in the First Division North for the second successive month is Nelson.

They played four games in the month, two at home and two away. They picked up six points in the league which moved them up to third place in the league table, and also progressed through to the next round of both the Isuzu FA Vase and Macron Cup.

The first game in October was actually postponed, the weather scuppering a trip to Fulwood Amateurs. The following Saturday they travelled the short distance to Premier Division high flyers Padiham in the Second Round of the Macron Cup, and stunned their higher ranked opponents with a 6-0 victory. A quickfire double midway through the first half from Luke Hepple and Ryan Bolton put them in control with Hepple adding another just before the break. It remained that way until 20 minutes from time when Billy Priestley added another with Max Cane quickly adding the fifth. The final goal came in the last minute through Ryan Cattermole.

Another cup game followed the week after with a home game against NCEL side Harrogate Railway Athletic in the Isuzu FA Vase. Again Nelson were quick off the blocks with all the goals in a 3-0 win coming inside the first half. Jack Doherty opened the scoring on eight minutes with Ryan Bolton adding a second on 21 minutes. Luke Hepple was again on target with the third of the game, that coming on 34 minutes.

A midweek trip to Steeton saw Nelson return to league action, and this time the game saw no goals in the first half. The opener came on 67 minutes through Luke Hepple, who then added a second from the penalty spot with six minutes of normal time remaining. Arley Barnes pulled one back for the home side but Nelson hung on for the win.

The final game of the month was a home tie against Ashton Town, and once again there were no goals in the first half in what was a tight affair. Max Cane opened the scoring just two minutes into the second half, and it was that man Luke Hepple who secured the win with his sixth goal of the month, that coming on 67 minutes.

Nelson's month ended like it started with a postponement, this time against MSB Woolton in the First Round of the Edward Case Cup.

That gave them a 16 points from their 4 games for a 4.00 average.

AFC Blackpool ran them close with four wins from four, including a 3-0 home win against Premier Division side Barnoldswick Town. Holker Old Boys also did well with three wins from five games played, two of which were on the road.

First Division South - Ashville

The winner of the Club of the Month in the First Division South for October are Ashville. This is the first monthly award that Ashville have won since their promotion to the NWCFL ahead of the 2022/23 season.

Ashville won five of the six games that they played, including a superb 3-2 win on the road at Stafford Town. The only time they didn't taste success this month was a draw away at league leaders Runcorn Town.

Like Nelson, they started the month with a postponed game at home to Cheadle Heath Nomads, before facing the same opponent three days later in the First Round of the Cheshire Senior Cup. They progressed through to the next round in a close game with Shaun Farrell getting the only goal of the game on 55 minutes.

Next was a trip to Stafford Town, where they found themselves two goals behind after just 13 minutes following a goal each from Stafford's front two of Matthew Hearsey and Patryk Mazurkiewicz. Ashville reduced the arrears straight away through Joseph Dulson, with Dulson then levelling the scores with his second on the half hour. Thirteen minutes into the second half Dulson completed his hat-trick to put Ashville ahead, and that's how it remained with Ashville returning to the Wirral with all three points.

The rearranged game against Cheadle Heath Nomads was next, and it was another hat-trick that secured the points for Ashville in a 3-0 win. This time though it was Samuel Mann, who opened the scoring after just two minutes before adding another on 28 minutes. Just six minutes later it was three, with Ashville comfortably seeing out the game.

Attention then turned to the Edward Case Cup with a home tie against Wolverhampton Casuals. They fell behind in this game to an Owen Hesketh goal after just four minutes, but the lead only lasted four minutes with Jonathon Cahill levelling. Connor Rowland then put Ashville ahead on 37 minutes with that being enough to see Ashville through to the last 16.

An away trip to league leaders Runcorn Town followed, with Ashville surviving a penalty miss by their hosts late in the second half to return home with a point after a goalless draw.

The final game saw Alsager Town visit Ashville for a league game. They fell behind to a Luke Nicholls goal on 38 minutes however Ishmael Banks restored parity just a minute later. A Joseph Dulson penalty in first half stoppage time gave Ashville the lead, and that was enough to secure another three points.

That gave them 18 points from their 6 games for a 3.00 average.

Several teams did well in October, including Stockport Georgians and Stafford Town. Closest to them in the calculations was Telford Town, who had four wins, a draw and a loss.
