Weekend 18 (including Friday night) saw eight games in the Macron Cup plus league games in all three divisions.

The Macron Cup

On Friday evening, Thornton Cleveleys powered into the Quarter Finals of the Macron Cup after a 5-0 win at MSB Woolton. Four of the goals came in an action packed second half, with Oliver Wilkinson and Samuel Viegas both scoring twice with Thornton making the Quarters on debut.

The other game was not as straight forward, with Euxton Villa taking a two goal lead in at half time in their derby with Charnock Richard. The visitors reduced the arrears only for Euxton to restore the two goal lead with just seven minutes remaining. However two late goals for the visitors meant penalties! Euxton won from the spot 4-3 to take their place in the next round.

Onto Saturday, and Telford Town become another side to reach the Quarter Final at the first attempt after a 4-0 win over Runcorn Town. Kyron Cooper started and ended the scoring for Telford, with both sides missing penalties in that game. Another First Division side through are Nelson, who came from a goal down to win 3-1 at Sandbach United.

West Didsbury & Chorlton also won on the road, winning 2-1 at Ramsbottom United. Cheadle Town also won 2-1, that at home to Chadderton, with Burscough also through after a 3-1 win over AFC Blackpool.

Premier Division

It was a goal feast in the Premier Division, with Wythenshawe romping to their biggest ever victory as they beat City of Liverpool 11-1. There were seven different goalscorers in the game which was 5-1 at the break with Aaron Dwyer grabbing a hat-trick and Samuel Adewusi and Bryan Li two each. Eleswhere Padiham also ran up a double figure score afer a 10-1 win at Plikington.  Remarkably it was just 1-0 at the break, before the floodgates opened. Lee Pugh grabbed a hat-trick with Matthew Makinson, Jakub Hebda and Isaac Smith all scoring twice.

Litherland REMYCA also had a day to forget as they went down 6-0 at home to Stockport Town, with the Manchester side having six different goalscorers in that game. Another amongst the goals on the road were FC Isle of Man who won 5-2 at Longridge Town, with Adam Adebiyi and Charlie Higgins both scoring twice. 

Abbey Hey's clash at home to Atherton LR looked like ending goalless until they took the lead in the last minute. Three minutes into stoppage time it was two, with Abbey still having enough time for a consolation in a 2-1 defeat.

It proved a good day for away sides, with Irlam winning 3-0 at South Liverpool and Glossop North End winning 2-0 at Prestwich Heys.

The final game of the day was at Barnoldswick Town where the home side were held to a 1-1 draw by FC St Helens Town.

First Division North

There was just three games in the First Division North with Liam Sheppard scoring twice for Daisy Hill as they won 4-2 away at Maine Road. Ashton Town were the only other side to win as they ran out 2-0 winners at home to Fulwood Amateurs. 

The third game saw leaders Maghull trail at home to Darwen who took the lead with eight minutes to go, however they scored three minutes into time to salvage a 1-1 draw.

First Division South

With many of the leading sides in Macron Cup action, Ashville picked up the biggest win of the day as they came from behind to secure a 4-1 win over Shawbury United.  That was the only home win of the day with the five other games ending in victory for the away side.

Eccleshall picked up a big three points in their chase for promotion as they won 3-0 at Barnton, with Danny Glover scoring twice. Jack Ryan also scored twice for Cheadle Heath Nomads as they won 3-2 at Alsager Town.

Foley Meir won 3-1 at New Mills with Market Drayton Town winning by the same scoreline at Wolverhampton Sporting Community. Cammell Laird 1907 won 2-1 at Haughmond in the final game.
