Runcorn Town wrapped up the First Division South title in style on Tuesday evening with a 6-0 home victory over Alsager Town.

Runcorn needed one more point to be certain of being crowned as Champions after a stellar campaign and it took just five minutes to get their noses in front as Connor Spiers run in on goal before slotting past the keeper. On 18 minutes it was two with another trademark Spiers goal, the striker collecting the ball in the centre circle before driving towards goal and evading a couple of tackles before firing home.

Straight from the kick off Ed Burthem won possession and played in Spiers down the left. He cut into the box and was denied a hat-trick thanks to a good save from keeper Tom Freear, but the ball fell nicely for Kieran Alley to take a touch and finish into the bottom corner to make it 3-0. Alley himself got a fourth goal before the break, playing a one-two with Ed Burthem before finding the bottom corner.

Early in the second half Runcorn extended the lead, Dwyer's cross cum shot from the left somehow finding the back of the net at the far post to make it five. And Runcorn rounded off the win on 87 minutes, Shaquille Lewys flicking a long ball on to Gary Robinson who fired home the sixth.

The win confirms promotion back to Step 5 for Runcorn after four seasons at Step 6 and they still have a lot to play for. They can get to 92 points in the league, and as well as the Edward Case Cup Final to come, they are also in the Semi Finals of both the Cheshire Senior Cup and Liverpool Senior Cup.

Congratulations to everyone involved at Runcorn Town on their success this season!
