First Division North Club of the Month for September 2023 were visited by North West Counties League Chairman, Paul Lawler ahead of their game against Euxton Villa on Friday night. The club had a great month, winning 3-2 at Holker Old Boys and 2-1 at home to Shelley before a 3-0 away win at Nelson. Then came a superb 1-0 away win at Premier Division side Wythenshawe Town. They were denied a perfect month by a narrow 2-1 loss at Ilkley Town last Saturday.
Paul is pictured presenting the award to South Liverpool Assistant Manager Stephen Ward, who is alongside SLFC Chairman Gary Langley, Club Volunteers representative Joe Williams and Club Vice-Chairman Mr Brian Williams.
Speaking after the presentation, Stephen Ward was keen to stress the award is an achievement across the club, stating "This award is another milestone for us as a club as we continue to rebuild our presence in the National League system. We have had a great month with some good wins on the road and progress in the Isuzu FA Vase. Everyone around the club from the Dugout, on the pitch, the Boardroom, all of our dedicated volunteers and those who have paid their hard earned money to follow us on the road have all contributed to that."
"We need to build on that and keep the momentum going and we have told this to the players, the opportunities to achieve something special are there for them, but they will need to stay focussed. I thank the League Chairman for coming along tonight and we are very pleased to be able to share this with everyone."
