October 2024 Club of the Month

We are delighted to confirm our Club of the Month winners for October 2024.

The league have a formula to work out our Club of the Month based on whether games were home and away and the quality of the opposition. September winners were are as follows:.

Premier Division - Ramsbottom United

Winning the Premier Division award after a superb month is Ramsbottom United.

Rammy had their best month since returning to the NWCFL last season with an unbeaten month with five wins and two draws from their seven games played. They scored 14 goals at an average of 2.0 per game, helping the club to pick up this award for the first time since it was known as the Manager of the Month award, with Bernard Morley & Anthony Johnson winning it in April 2011!

Rammy started the month with a hard fought 2-2 draw at West Didsbury & Chorlton in the Macron Cup, letting slip a lead twice before winning on penalties. A 1-0 win followed away at FC Isle of Man, before Rammy let another lead slip in the 1-1 draw at Barnoldswick Town.

The last four games of the month though were perfect, with three wins in the league and progression in the FA Vase. Cheadle Town and AFC Liverpool were both beaten at home in 2-1 wins before a 2-0 win over First Division North side Euxton Villa. A 4-0 win on the last Saturday of the month at Litherland REMYCA helped secure this award, that helping them finish top of the table as we headed into November.

Those results gave Ramsbottom 20 points from their 7 games for a 2.86 average.

The closest challengers were Irlam with four wins and two draws from their six games, with West Didsbury & Chorlton, Padiham and Bury all doing well also.

First Division North - Atherton LR

Club of the Month in the First Division North was a close run thing yet again, but winning it for the second time in three months are Atherton LR. 

Atherton played five games during the month, one on each of the four Saturday's in the month with one midweek. Of these they won four and lost just once. 

They started October with a 3-0 win at Atherton LR, followed up by a 4-1 win over Steeton in the Edward Case Cup. They then lost at Ashton Town in the Macron Cup, before a fantastic 2-1 win over Premier Division Colne in the Isuzu FA Vase. That win against a higher division side certainly helped them this month, and that was folowed uo with a 4-2 away win at Maghull in the final game of the month.

That gave them 16 points from their 5 games for a 3.2 average.

Maine Road ran LR close, in fact they won five and lost once, with Droylsden and Nelson also having good months.

First Division South - Winsford United

The winner of the Club of the Month in the First Division South are Winsford United, who had a perfect month with seven wins from seven games played.

They had three home wins in the opening week of the season, a 2-0 win over Sandbach United in the Macron Cup before a 2-0 win over Allscott Heath in the league. A 2-1 win over Foleyaa Meir followed in the Edward Case Cup, before the biggest win of the month, a 4-0 win over AFC Liverpool in the Isuzu FA Vasl.

Another giant-killing followed in a 3-1 win at Stockport Town in the Cheshire Senior Cup with two more league victories in the First Division South two end the month, a 2-1 win at home to New Mills and a superb 3-2 win away at Stafford Town.

That gave them 27 points from their 7 games for a 3.86 average.

Closest to them was a resurgent Market Drayton Town who had five wins and a draw in October. Stafford Town, Sandbach United and Stockport Georgians all also did well in the month.
