March 2025 Club of the Month

We are delighted to confirm our Club of the Month winners for March 2025.
The league have a formula to work out our Club of the Month based on whether games were home and away and the quality of the opposition. Last months winners were are as follows:
Premier Division - Lower Breck
Winning the Premier Division award for March 2025 is Lower Breck. This is the second time this season that they have won Club of the Month having also picked up the accolade in December.
Breck played a whopping eight games in the month, winning all eight of them as they continue to battle it out with Bury for the Premier Division title. They played three home games and five on the road, scoring 30 goals and conceding just four.
The opening game was at Longridge Town and was goalless at the break, but the second half was action packed. Longridge hit a penalty over the bar before Elliot Hughes put Breck ahead. James Kemp then levelled before Samuel Burns restored Breck's lead moments later. Barely an hour was on the clock. We had to wait until 12 minutes from time for the next goal, Burns grabbing his second, with Jordan Barrow making it four a couple of minutes later. Lewis Buckley added a fifth in the last minute.
Next up was a home game against West Didsbury & Chorlton on a Thursday night. Liam Morris opened the scoring on 13 minutes with an Own Goal just before the break making it two. Tom Croughan added a third on 57 minutes before West got a consolation to make it 3-1.
Less than 48 hours later, FC St Helens were the visitors to Anfield with the result another emphatic win for Breck. An Own Goal put them on their way with Elliot Hughes adding another in first half stoppage time. Jesse Dowling made it three at the start of the second half before a Samuel Burns double made it five. St Helens added a consolation with the game ending 5-1.
A third home game inside a week followed, this time some Thursday night football against South Liverpool, with Breck winning registering their biggest home win of the season in a 6-0 win. Tom Croughan gave them an early lead with Thomas Mitchell and Jesse Dowling making it three at the break. Samuel Burns added another in the first minute of the second half, with Elliot Hughes making it five midway through the half and Dowling adding the sixth in stoppage time.
The fifth game of the month was a short trip to AFC Liverpool. Breck left it late in this game with Tom Croughan opening the scoring 20 minutes from time. Lewis Buckley made it two with two minutes remaining, Breck winning 2-0.
A midweek trip to Colne followed with Jack Holt putting the hosts ahead inside seven minutes. Breck levelled on 26 minutes through Daniel Lowey before Jesse Dowling put Breck ahead four minutes before the break. A Samuel Burns goal in the 66th minute made it safe with 3-1 being the final score.
Game seven of the month was another away trip, this time to Stockport Town. Another Own Goal on 15 minutes put them on their way before Samuel Burns made it 2-0 midway through the second half.
The final game saw Breck travel to FC Isle of Man and once again they dominated. Thomas Mitchell put them ahead in first half stoppage time before a quickfire double around the hour mark from Jesse Dowling and Elliot Hughes made it three. Samuel Burns made it 4-0 with ten minutes remaining, Breck's tenth successive league win.
Those results gave Breck 29 points towards the Club of the Month calculation from their 8 games for a 3.63 average.
The closest challengers were Bury who also had a 100% winning month, playing five games with a 3.40 average. Burscough and Ramsbottom United were also up there in the calculations.

First Division North - Atherton LR
Club of the Month in the First Division North is Atherton LR, who have won the award for a fourth time this season following wins in August, October and January.
LR played five games in the month and after losing the first game, romped to victory in the other four. They scored nine goals and conceded five.
They started March with a 3-1 defeat at Holker Old Boys, always a tricky place to visit. David Moore put LR ahead with a goal just before the hour, with Tom Dawson levelling seven minutes later. Holker went ahead from the penalty spot with five minutes to go, and secured victory two minutes into added on time.
A week later they returned to Holker, this time in the Semi Final of the Edward Case Cup. It was again a close game, with Holker taking the lead this time in the 74th minute. David Moore levelled four minutes later for LR, before Harvey Sample won it for them with a last minute goal.
Next came a midweek away game at Steeton, with Cal Hunter putting LR ahead in the first minute of the game. Steeton levelled midway through the first half, with Harvey Sample hitting the winner for LR seven minutes into the second half. The game finished 3-1.
Sample was also on target in the fourth game, a 3-0 win at home to Skelmersdale United. Sample hit the first two goals in this game in the 22nd and 59th minute, with Joe Bacon adding a third just after the hour mark.
The final game was against promotion rivals Nelson away from home. It was a close game in front of a large crowd, settled by Joe Bacon's goal in the 57th minute, LR winning 1-0 to take a giant step towards the league title.
That gave them 15 points from their 5 games for a 3.00 average.
Thornton Cleveley's pushed LR close but were disqualified due to disciplinary charges. Maine Road also had a good month with two wins and a draw.

First Division South - Winsford United
The winner of the Club of the Month in the First Division South are Winsford United. This is the second time this season that they have won Club of the Month having also picked up the accolade in October.
Winsford United won three of the four matches that they played in March, drawing the other one. They scored eight goals in the process and only conceding three goals in the month.
They started the month with an home game against last month's Club of the Month Eccleshall. They scored in the last minute of the first half with an Own Goal, with Elliott Coleman doubling the lead in the first minute of the second half. Eccleshall hit back five minutes later, before adding another five minutes into stoppage time. The game finished 2-2.
Next came a Friday night home game against Shawbury Town, with Matthew Birchall hitting the only goal of the game on 29 minutes. The third game was a trip to Market Drayton Town, with the home side going ahead after just four minutes. Blake Robinson levelled on 13 minutes, with Jack Woolley hitting the winner in a 2-1 win with 15 minutes to play.
The final game was a trip to Stockport Georgians. A Jack Woolley penalty put them ahead on 14 minutes with Oliver Pope adding a second seven minutes later. Reece Davies made it three just two minutes into the second half, with the 3-0 win putting them on the brink of the league title.
That gave them 12 points from their 4 games for a 3.00 average.
Closest to them was Stockport Georgians, with that loss to Winsford being their only loss of the month. Cammell Laird 1907 also had a good month, with three wins and a draw from their five games.
